Monrovia, Liberia, Tuesday, October 29, 2025- The City of Greenville, Sinoe County, celebrated a significant milestone on October 27, 2025, with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Greenville Water Supply System.

The project, according to the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) team recently, in the county aims to restore pipe-borne water service to the city, which has been without this essential service since the civil war broke out in Liberia in 1989.

The LWSC said lack of access to clean and reliable water has been a major challenge for the residents of Greenville for decades, the city’s residents have had to rely on alternative sources of water, which are often unreliable and unhygienic.

The new water supply system when completed will provide a sustainable solution to the city’s water needs, improving the health and well-being of residents.
