Sanniquellie, Nimba County –Saturday, August 16, 2025 – Superintendent Ma Kuo Meapeh Gono of Nimba County has urged religious institutions, particularly churches in Liberia, to play a pivotal role in the country’s development and stability.

Superintendent Ma Kou Meapeh Gono speaks at the 20th National Conference ofthe Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited-Liberia Mission ongoing in Sanniquellie Nimba County.

Speaking at the official opening of the 20th National Conference of the Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited – Liberia Mission, in Sanniquellie, Nimba County, on August 13, 2025, Superintendent Gono encouraged churches to become catalysts for social change, national advancement, and spiritual growth.

She highlighted the moral responsibility and opportunity that churches have to serve as pillars of development in Liberia.

The conference, which runs from August 12 to 17, 2025, is being held at the Harvest Victory Chapel in Sanniquellie Nimba County, featuring the theme: “Partnership: A Pathway for Greater Harvest.”

Kuo Meapeh Gono acknowledged the longstanding impact that churches have had on the Liberian society by providing essential services such as education and healthcare, but urged them to deepen more actively in addressing contemporary societal challenges.

She emphasized that churches could initiate moral revivals and drive social reforms to tackle issues of peace, youth unemployment, and social unrest.

“By promoting values of integrity, love, and patriotism, churches can help foster responsible citizens who contribute positively to our nation’s progress,” she opined.

The Nimba County Superintendent also encouraged church leaders to collaborate with government agencies and local communities to initiate projects aimed at enhancing livelihoods; noting that such partnerships could improve the delivery of services, including education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.

In closing, she stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility, declaring, “As leaders and upholders of moral values, churches must take an active role in the reconstruction and development of Liberia. We count on your spiritual influence coupled with social action to forge a brighter future for our country.”

In response, Bishop, Dr. M. Wolo Belleh, head of the First Diocese of Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited, which encompasses churches in Liberia, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, affirmed the ministry’s commitment to contributing to the nation’s development.

Bishop Belleh assured dedication to furthering efforts in national development, peacebuilding, and fostering national pride.

The weeklong conference is intended to encourage spiritual revival, empower churches, and promote unity among Christians across Liberia, with thousands of worshippers including, pastors, and religious leaders gathered at the Harvest Victory Chapel in Sanniquellie, Nimba County for a series of worship services, leadership training, and community outreach among others.

The conference is expected to also feature ordination and licensing ceremonies for trained ministers and church workers, officially appointing them to serve in their respective areas of expertise.

As faith-based groups continue to enhance Liberia’s moral and social fabric, the Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited – Liberia Mission 2025 Conference presents a vital opportunity for both spiritual renewal and progressive nation-building towards peace and prosperity.
