The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) on Friday November 7, 2025 conducted an event based surveillance (EBS) stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Voinjama city, Lofa County.
The event-based Surveillance stakeholders’ engagement meeting brought together district commissioners, traditional women, religious community, the media and the county health team (CHT).
According to the NPHIL team, the purpose of the meeting with the stakeholders was to learn how to keep surveillance in their communities, districts, and above all, county to avoid epidemic or pandemic in the health system.

Mrs. Summon Lomax Flomo from NPHIL during the meeting told participants to report , spread any strange health related case or cases in their respective villages, towns, communities and the county at large for health workers and surveillance team to take quick action.
“Report any strange health related case to the community leaders, health workers, the radio stations, or on social media and trained personnel will follow the link to avoid epidemic or pandemic” NPHIL Officer Summon Lomax-Flomo said.
Nathaniel K. Dorillie, a member of the NPHIL team while providing overview of the meeting told attendants they should keep surveillance in their respective localities for prompt action to save the country.

Meanwhile, Lofa County Health team in the opening remarks welcome the team from the National Public Health Institute of Liberia and promised to provide more awareness about event-based Surveillance (EBS) in Villages, towns, communities and county level.
Lofa County Health team representative during the meeting encouraged participants to take the message to their various communities throughout the county.
Accordingly, the event-based surveillance (EBS) stakeholders’ engagement is taking place across the country’s 15 counties with support from partners and the Ministry of Health.
