On the Passing of Our Alumnus, Sam Paor Juday; The Tubman College–Tubman University Alumni Association (TC-TUAA), through the Office of the President, expresses its profound sorrow and deep sense of loss over the tragic death of Sam Paor Juday, a proud Tubmanite and graduate of William V. S. Tubman University, whose life was brutally cut short while pursuing higher education in India.
Sam was not only a son of Liberia and Grand Kru County; he was a product of our institution, a young man driven by hope, ambition, and the desire to return home better equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development. His untimely death has shaken the conscience of our alumni body and has drawn local, national, and international attention, reminding us of the vulnerability of African students abroad and the urgent responsibility we share to protect, value, and invest in our young people.
On behalf of the entire TC-TU Alumni Association, we extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Juday family. Having engaged directly with the family, and other stakeholders we have been informed that Sam’s remains are expected to be returned to Liberia within the next two to three weeks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking the lead. We stand in solidarity with the family during this painful period and reaffirm our commitment to supporting them in every morally appropriate way.
We also express sincere appreciation to students, fellow alumni, comrades, civil society actors, social justice advocates, and concerned citizens—both within Liberia and across the diaspora—who have raised their voices in the collective call for Justice for Sam. Your solidarity has amplified truth, demanded accountability, and honored Sam’s life.
We acknowledge the actions taken by the relevant authorities, noting that all alleged perpetrators have been arrested and are currently facing the full weight of the law. The TC-TU Alumni Association will continue to monitor this case closely and calls for a transparent, fair, and timely judicial process to ensure justice is fully served.
Beyond legal accountability, we believe that true justice for Sam must also be structural and forward-thinking. From the standpoint of the TC-TU Alumni Association, honoring Sam’s life means advancing and advocating for the cause he believed in. We therefore use this moment to advocate for what we understand to have been among his strongest convictions:
1. A halt to the creation of additional seats in Liberia’s National Legislature, and
2. The redirection of public resources toward priority sectors —education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
Liberia must invest deliberately in strengthening educational systems, institutions, and opportunities at home, so that our young people are NOT compelled to seek dignity, safety, and quality training abroad under vulnerable conditions. If we improve the structures and systems we already have, our students can acquire world-class knowledge and skills right here—safely, affordably, and with pride.
Sam’s death must not be in vain. Let it awaken a renewed national commitment to education, justice, and human dignity.
May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy inspire reform, unity, and purposeful action.
