Montserrado County, Monrovia-Monday, February 24, 2025-The Chief Executive Officer of Orange Liberia, Mr. Jean Marius Yao, has publicly apologized to the House Committee on Post and Telecommunications for his absence during a previous public hearing.

Mr. Yao explained that his absence was due to the passing of his father, which required him to travel to be with his family and make arrangements for the funeral service.

In statement from the House Press Bureau, during the Orange Liberia CEO appearance before the committee Monday, he reaffirmed his commitment to honoring invitations from the People’s Deputies, particularly concerning matters affecting Orange Liberia’s subscribers and network connectivity issues.

He assured the committee of Orange Liberia’s cooperation in addressing concerns raised by lawmakers.

The House Committee on Post and Telecommunications is currently investigating GSM companies and regulatory authorities regarding persistent network connectivity challenges in Maryland County and other parts of Liberia.

Following Mr. Yao’s open apology, members of the committee exercised leniency and requested Orange Liberia to submit all relevant documents related to the hearing. These documents will be reviewed ahead of the next session for further questioning of witnesses.

The hearing has been rescheduled to continue on Friday at 10:00 AM. It will involve further inquiries based on the submitted documents.

Attending the hearing were Commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, and Mr. Jean Marius Yao, CEO of Orange Liberia.
