Monrovia, Liberia |Feb.20, 2026| The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has taken a significant step to boost the country’s digital economy by issuing Value-Added Services (VAS) licenses, with Orange Money being one of the beneficiaries.
This move is expected to increase competition, improve service delivery, and expand access to digital services in Liberia.
The LTA’s initiative according to its Chairperson Clarence Massaquoi, aims to promote Liberian entrepreneurs, broaden market participation, and enhance service delivery nationwide.
Chairman Massaquoi said the move highlights President Joseph Nyuma Boakai administration commitment to digital inclusion, transformation and service to country, assured Orange Liberia of the LTA continues support and partnership in driving Liberia’s digital transformation agenda.
Five operators have already completed the licensing process, with more expected to follow suit.
Speaking further at the event Friday in Monrovia, LTA Commissioner for Licensing and Regulations, Ben Fofana, emphasized the importance of this milestone, saying, “We want more people to enter so that this market, particularly Liberians, can take a substantial portion of it. We want you to make money and improve our own economy”.
The VAS licensing is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance digital inclusion and promote economic growth.
Orange Money, a leading mobile money service provider, is expected to leverage this license to expand its services and contribute to the country’s digital transformation.
The event was held at LTA headquarters in Monrovia, bringing together representatives from Orange Liberia, the LTA and the Media.
