Monrovia, Liberia- May 01, 2025-Stakeholders in the transitional justice sector have renewed their commitment to continue working with the Office for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia (OWECC-L).
The sector, comprising national and international partners, made the commitment on Wednesday, April 30, during the second National Transitional Justice Coordination Committee Meeting held at the OWECC-L offices in Monrovia.

The gathering, co-chaired by OWECC-L and the Executive Director of the Women’s NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL), also brought together victims and massacre survivors.
During the meeting, OWECC-L Executive Director Dr. Cllr. Jallah A. Barbu reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a transitional justice process that is transparent, while also emphasizing the importance of community participation and openness in support of the institution’s inclusion policy.

The forum provided an opportunity to assess progress made since the first coordination meeting and to strategize the next steps toward establishing the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.
OHCHR Liberia, Ministry of Justice – Liberia, U.S. Embassy Monrovia, Liberia, New Narratives, Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs & Tourism (MICAT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Liberia, and Executive Mansion-Liberia were all in attendance and fully represented at the forum.
