Bolloh Statutory District, Grand Kru County |March 4, 2026|In what residents describe as a major boost to local development, citizens of Bolloh Statutory District have commended businessman and miner Hilary W. Gray for investing over US$230,000 in heavy road construction equipment to rehabilitate key farm-to-market roads.
The initiative is being viewed not just as a road project, but as a catalyst for economic transformation in one of Grand Kru County’s busiest gold-mining regions.
For decades, residents say poor road conditions have slowed trade, limited farmers’ market access, and discouraged private investment.
During the rainy season, many communities reportedly become cut-off, affecting the transportation of agricultural produce and basic goods.
Community leaders believe Gray’s intervention signals a shift toward local-driven development.
“This is about economic empowerment,” one elder remarked during the recognition program. “When roads improve, businesses grow.”
Gray said his investment reflects his commitment to sustainable community growth rather than political ambition.
“I am a humanitarian,” he stated. “Development must start from within.”
Beyond road connectivity, Gray has contributed to community welfare through the construction of hand pumps and the establishment of a mineral water factory, initiatives residents say are gradually strengthening local infrastructure and job creation.
However, despite progress in road rehabilitation, citizens noted that education infrastructure remains a pressing concern in the densely populated mining district.
The heavy equipment purchase could reduce transportation costs, improve access to healthcare and markets, and stimulate broader economic activities across Bolloh Statutory District.
Residents are now calling on other private actors benefiting from the area’s mineral wealth to follow suit and invest in long-term, sustainable development.
