River Gee: CHICO’s vehicle impounded by authorities for carrying construction materials unauthorized

    By Ben TC Brooks

A vehicle belonging to the China Henan International Cooperation Group (CHICO), has been impounded by authorities in River Gee County, for an alleged violation.

The CHICO vehicle, a heavy-duty truck was impounded Thursday, while allegedly transporting road construction materials unauthorized.

The impounded truck was carrying a load of crushed rocks to an unspecified location without the necessary clearance, according to authorities.

The CHICO-owned truck, with license plate number H0142, was stopped by River Gee County Engineer, Jerry Sackor, in Sarbo Woffiken, situated approximately 15 kilometers from the county’s capital, Fish Town.

The crushed rocks loaded onboard the vehicle are intended for road construction works in River Gee, but the CHICO-owned truck was seen headed for an unknown destination before it was seized by authorities, according to County Engineer Sackor.

As per a directive issued by Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe, CHICO, in the absence of authorization by the county’s administration, is prohibited from hauling, distributing, and selling construction materials including sand and rocks meant to carry out public works in River Gee.

Superintendent Swengbe’s directive followed numerous complaints from multiple residents regarding illegal sale of materials meant for public infrastructure.

Meanwhile, with the whereabouts of the driver of the CHICO-owned vehicle, who absconded upon the truck being seized being unclear, the vehicle is currently being held in Sarbo Woffiken, pending an official investigation that is underway.
