    River Gee New Agriculture Coordinator Envisions Rebranded County’s Agriculture Sector

    “As a young man, taking over the Agricultural sector of our county is for us to collectively work together, rebrand and be innovative in our engagement with partners, stakeholders and mainly our local farmers to supporting them grow more food for our county, no more politics”, Jasper Sheriff Tweh said on November 14, 2024 during his induction ceremony at the County Agriculture office on Tejaliken Road, Fish-Town

    Jasper Sheriff Tweh replaces D. Wilson Slobert, a long serving Agriculture Coordinator who has been retired from work.

    In his induction statement, Jasper promised to increase food security in River Gee by contributing to sustainable agricultural growth and development and at the same time create team work at the county level.

    Liberia Agriculture census 2022/2023 household in food production report put River Gee the least among all 15-sub division of the Republic, which Jesper promised to spice up by rebranding through innovation that leads to increase in food production.

    Young Jesper said he is ready to turn the county agriculture sector into a place of innovation for the people of River Gee, especially local farmers. He expressed his commitment to collaborating effectively with the ARREST agenda of the Government of Liberia with the aim to foster sustainable agricultural practices and improving food security.

    Young and excited looking agriculture technician asked citizens of the county to do away with politics, says it undermines the growth and development of any technical institution.

    “Focusing squarely on the job will certainly allow the institution to function effectively and efficiently than politics. Besides, politics has no enough reasons of placing food on the table for our kids after enough talking as parents”, he cautioned his people.

    Jesper said he is aware of the importance of team work in achieving his rebranding mission, and promised to engage in team work.

    “As a young man, taking over the Agricultural sector of our county is for us to collectively work together, rebrand and be innovative in our engagement with partners, stakeholders and mainly our local farmers to supporting them grow more food for our county, no more politics”, headded.

    River Gee is located in Central Southeastern Liberia. Its capital is Fish Town, and has and a population of 124,653, according to the National Housing and population census of 2022.

    Significant number of the county’s population are said to have migrated to other parts of Liberia, particularly Monrovia due to a lack of sustainable opportunities, including basic social services and livelihoods in the county.

    Developmental interventions in River Gee are crucial. The social problems in the Southeastern counties are widespread, with no job opportunities especially in River Gee since the scaling down of NGOs and UNMIL. The government of Liberia remains the only means of employment in the County.
