MONROVIA, Liberia (March 18, 2026)…Henry B. Gboluma, Jr., a seasoned journalist and affiliate of the Rural Reporter News Network (RRNN) and also the Manger of the Voice of Gbarpolu Radio has won the 2nd place award in Forest Reporting for the year 2025.
His gripping story, “Forest Community Demands $4 Million In Unfulfilled Promises…”, earned him the second top spot at the Forest Media Day Awards Ceremony held at the Corina Hotel in Monrovia on March 13, 2026.
Gboluma’s award is a testament to his tireless efforts in shedding light on critical forest governance issues in Liberia with support from the Liberia Forest Media Watch (LFMW) under its Rural Reporters News Network.
His story exposed how Korninga ‘A’ Authorized Community Forest in Gbarpolu County is fighting for their rights and benefits from a logging contract with Coveiyalah Investment Enterprises, Inc.
”I’m honored to receive this award, recognizing my efforts to shed light on issues affecting our forests,” Henry said. “My gratitude goes to the Liberia Media Center and partners for their support and trust in my work. And to the family of the Voice of Gbarpolu Radio and LFMW, thank you for the guidance and support.”

The award is part of the annual Media Award program organized by the Liberia Media Center, supported by the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) through the Multi-Stakeholders Forest Governance and Accountability Project (MFGAP). MFGAP aims to strengthen forest management, ensure accountability, and support carbon policy development in Liberia.
Gboluma’s win is a milestone for forest reporting in Liberia, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in forest governance. He walked away with an HP Laptop. His story has sparked awareness and action, with the community now demanding benefits for the first five years before any agreement renewal.
