Barclayville, Grand Kru County |April 13, 2026 |Residents of Grand Kru County are voicing growing frustration over what they describe as slow progress in addressing critical infrastructure challenges, despite ongoing County Development Fund (CDF) allocations under the current Unity Party-led administration.
Residents said that while public funds have been disbursed to support development initiatives, many rural communities continue to face serious access difficulties due to deteriorating roads and damaged bridges.
Among the key concerns raised by residents are the Sass Town road, which remains cut off, the Nokai-to-Buah route, reportedly impassable, and the damaged Chengbetee Bridge, which is restricting movement between major parts of the county.

According to citizens, these conditions are having a direct impact on livelihoods, particularly for farmers, traders, and students who depend on reliable transportation networks for daily movement and economic activities.
Residents further allege that despite reports of more than US$500,000 in County Development Fund allocations, visible development projects remain limited, fueling public concerns over planning, implementation, and development priorities.
Several citizens are now calling for an immediate shift in focus toward urgent road rehabilitation and bridge repairs, insisting that restoring connectivity across the county should be treated as a top priority to ease the hardship faced by local communities.
The situation has sparked broader public discussion around development effectiveness, accountability, and governance at the county level.
In response to the concerns, Superintendent Antoinette Wowlee Nimely stated that she had personal properties prior to assuming public office, amid public discussions surrounding her assets and development priorities.
