BUCHANAN, October 30, 2025- Students in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, have joined the nationwide awareness campaign for Liberia’s Cybersecurity, highlighting digital safety, responsible online behavior, and the future of telecommunications.

Liberia Telecommunication Authority says the initiative in Buchanan is led by Commissioner Angela Cassell Bush of the Department of International Gateway Services (IGS), assisted by Commissioner Patrick Honnah.

The initiative is expected to run until October 2026. The Buchanan leg featured interactive sessions and Q & A segments.

W.P.L. Brumskine Methodist School, Bassa High School System, J.C. Early, St. Peter Claver High School, and Kpanay Town Public School participated in the campaign.

LTA Chairperson, Clarence Massaquoi urged students to leverage telecommunications for innovation and career growth, while warning of rising cyber threats and advocating for the passage of the pending Cybersecurity Bill.

Superintendent Karyou Johnson warmly received the Cyber Marathon torch, symbolizing the campaign’s expansion across Liberia.

The Cyber Torch campaign aims to promote digital safety and responsible online behavior across Liberia. With the Cyber Marathon relaying through counties, the initiative will continue to educate and engage citizens on the importance of cybersecurity.
