Bonokai Town, Gbarpolu County |Jan. 2, 2026 | A 27-year-old woman, Lango Johnson, was brutally killed by her boyfriend, Ansu, a Sierra Leonean working on a local palm farm, on New Year’s night in Bonokai town, Gungbaya Chiefdom, Bopolu District.
According to Chief Johnson Blamah, Ansu accused Johnson of loving to another man and choked her to death after denying her permission to attend watch night. The suspect has been arrested and detained in Bopolu City.
Chief Blamah is calling on the government to increase security in the community and invest in community policing; citing the need for measures to prevent such incidents.
The incident has shocked the community, highlighting concerns about safety and domestic violence in Gbarpolu County.
