Grand Gedeh County -[August 12, 2025] – two group of Broukinabe, allegedly headed by Noufou’s and Ali Kabore, have reportedly engaged in a fist fight over forest and land in Southeast Liberia. Both Noufou and Ali Kabore are investors from Bourkina Faso who are engaged in land cultivation in Grand Gedeh for cocoa farming.

Noufou, along with 15 of his workers were arrested by law enforcement officers in the Goryeazon forest, and taken to Zwedru for thorough investigation.

The arrest of Noufou follows his prior imprisonment for illegal occupation of agriculture land in the B’hai Administrative District, but was later released following reports of bribery which RRNN could not confirm.

The arrest took place early this morning after a violent altercation between Noufou’s and Ali Kabore groups, resulting in property damage and injuries on three people. The injured were initially treated at the Toe Clinic and later transferred to Côte d’Ivoire for advanced treatment.

Crowd gathered at the Toe Town Police Depot eager to catch a glimpse of Noufou, who has become a popular figure in the area. Local residents have accused Noufou of unauthorized activities in the communities of Goryeazon, Nicko, and Pokor, consistently demanding his expulsion.

District Commissioner Kelvin J. Kayee, has called on senior county officials, including the Superintendent, County Attorney, and County Inspector, to act quickly.

“The County Authority should send them back home. They are not conducting legitimate business, and we are fed up with them,” Commissioner Kayee stated.

He pointed out that despite previous directives for his departure, Noufou returned to the forest with 49 workers. Police intervened and arrested him and 15 others during a recent operation, while the others managed to flee.

However, residents from impacted communities had previously organized a peaceful demonstration and submitted a petition to the B’hai Administrative Commissioner requesting Noufou’s removal but continues his activities in the forest.
