Voinjama City, Voinjama District, Lofa County | March 21, 2026 |The Commissioner of Voinjama Administrative District in Lofa County, David Marwolo, has highlighted a series of key development initiatives aimed at transforming the district’s economy and improving livelihoods.

Speaking in a recent interview in Salayea, Commissioner Marwolo disclosed that the district is prioritizing agriculture, electricity, and infrastructure as part of its broader development agenda. He revealed that 56 towns across the district are each cultivating 35 acres of farmland under a coordinated initiative designed to boost food production and create employment opportunities.

According to him, the farming program is already yielding positive results, providing jobs and financial support to local communities while strengthening food security in the area.

In the energy sector, Marwolo announced that the district is set to benefit from a solar energy plant currently under construction by the World Bank in partnership with the Liberian government. The project is expected to improve access to electricity and support economic activities.

Addressing basic services, the Commissioner noted that Voinjama city now has an operational safe drinking water system, significantly improving access to clean water for residents. He further disclosed that new housing units under construction will primarily benefit low-income civil servants, helping to address accommodation challenges in the district.

The ongoing initiatives, he emphasized, reflect the government’s commitment to decentralization and grassroots development in Voinjama and its surrounding communities.
