Salayea District, Lofa County |March 7, 2026‎|A local women’s organization operating in Salayea Administrative District, Lofa County, is expanding its empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of women through skills training and social support programs.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Director of the organization, Nenenukpoma, Madam Garmai Gbarco Barclay, disclosed that the group has intensified efforts to equip women with practical vocational skills to help them become more self-reliant and economically active in their respective communities.

Madam Barclay explained that Nenenukpoma was established in 2020 to provide basic vocational training opportunities for women while addressing the many social and economic challenges they face.

According to her, since its establishment, the organization has successfully trained between 600 and 700 women in various skills development programs. She noted that although the initiative started in Salayea District, there are plans underway to extend its activities to other parts of Lofa County.

Responding to concerns about possible political involvement, Madam Barclay clarified that Nenenukpoma is not affiliated with any political group. She emphasized that the organization was originally founded in Bong County as a non-governmental initiative dedicated solely to promoting women’s empowerment.

She further added that while the organization remains open to serving citizens in broader capacities if the need arises in the future, its current focus remains on strengthening empowerment programs and monitoring beneficiaries to ensure they effectively apply the skills they have acquired.

The organization believes that empowering women through vocational training can significantly contribute to community development and economic growth across the region.
