Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County-Sunday, October 5, 2025-On Friday, October 3, 2025, the Women NGOs Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL), with funding support from the United Nations Trust Fund, officially turned over assorted soap-making materials to women from six communities across three districts in Gbarpolu County.
The beneficiary districts include Bopolu, Gbarma, and Bokomu, covering the communities of Compound Su, Bondi, Gbarma, Yangaryah, Gbarngay, and Molorimu.
The donation ceremony was held at the office of Yeapugama for Community Empowerment and Development in Bopolu City.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Gbarpolu County Senator Madam Botoe Kanneh, General Town Chief Weedor Pabai, Clan Chief Dorbor Mawolo, Lord Mayor of Bopolu City Madam Siah Keah, and County Council Representative Fatu Konneh.
Providing an overview of the project, Program Officer Muna Kelleh highlighted WONGOSOL’s commitment to empowering rural women.
She then officially handed over the materials on behalf of the organization.
Besides, the team Lead Madam Jenebah Vesselee said that the initiative aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for traditional women, especially those previously involved in harmful traditional practices in the beneficiary communities.
Speaking on behalf of the women of Gbarpolu County, Senator Botoe Kanneh expressed her gratitude to WONGOSOL and the UN Trust Fund for investing in the county’s women.
She assured that the soap-making materials would be well managed and used to promote women’s empowerment and economic independence.
Also speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Sao from Gbarma District praised WONGOSOL for the donation and promised that the women would maximize the opportunity by using the materials productively to support their families and communities.
