Zorzor, Lofa County – Monday, September 8, 2025-Citizens of Ziggida Town have staged a peaceful march in Zorzor City, calling for the immediate release of their kinsmen who were arrested during a joint security operation the previous night.

According to reports, several young people of Ziggida were apprehended by officers of the Police Support Unit (PSU) over allegations of involvement in violent activities linked to ongoing tensions surrounding the disappearance of Elder Sackie.

Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the protesters gathered to petition Zorzor District Commissioner, Hon. Paul R. Kalama. The citizens insisted that those arrested were innocent and should be freed without delay.

In response, Commissioner Kalama urged calm and assured the demonstrators that he would engage the security apparatus for a speedy investigation. He promised that any innocent detainees would be released once cleared.

To ease tension, the protesters were guided to Zelega Quarter in Zorzor where they were offered refreshments while authorities continued discussions with security officials.

The peaceful protest follows weeks of unrest in Ziggida after the mysterious disappearance of Elder Sackie, a development that has fueled suspicion, arrests, and mounting frustration among residents.
