US-Based Liberian Declares Early Intention to Contest River Gee District 1 Seat in 2029 Elections

River Gee County | January 5, 2026 | A United States–based Liberian and native of Gbeapo Kanweaken, River Gee County, Morris M. Kromah, has declared early intention to contest the electoral district # 1 seat in the 2029 General and Presidential Elections.

The declaration is being widely interpreted as a strategic and purposeful move aimed at early engagement with constituents, building grassroots support, and articulating a clear, people-centered vision for sustainable development in River Gee County.

Mr. Kromah is a successful businessman with a background in healthcare. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Khadijah Medical Center in Gbeapo Kanweaken, River Gee County, and also heads the medical mission leadership of the Federation of Liberian Mandingo Associations in the United States (FELMAUSA).

Speaking on his decision, Kromah stressed his desire to give back meaningfully to the county that shaped his upbringing. He explained that his years in the diaspora have exposed him to global best practices in leadership, governance, healthcare delivery, and community development and with experiences, he believes can be adapted to improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens in district 1.

“My aspiration is driven by service, not ambition,” Kromah said. “River Gee district 1 deserves bold and accountable representation, good leadership that will listens, plans, and delivers. I am prepared to work with our people to unlock opportunities in education, youth empowerment, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure development.” He stressed.

Addressing concerns about his long stay in the United States, Kromah clarified that despite having lived abroad for over 26 years, he has maintained strong ties with home.

“Over the last five years, I have consistently traveled between the U.S. and Liberia, spending more time in my hometown of Gbeapo Kanweaken and across electoral district 1.

Through this engagement, I have come to understand the real needs and struggles of our people,” he noted. “Our people are suffering, and there is an urgent need for leadership that can help lift them out of the daily hardships they face.” Says Kromah.

Kromah’s early announcement has already generated discussions among residents, youth groups, civil society actors, and diaspora communities.
