Lofa County, Zorzor District | Jan. 30, 2026 | After more than a year of silence on recognized football pitches, Lofa County is set to witness a major sporting revival as organized football activities officially resume in February 2026, bringing renewed excitement to players, fans, and communities across the county.
The Liberia Football Association’s National 3rd Division League will make a full return to Lofa, featuring 24 clubs drawn from different communities, all competing under their respective Sub-Committees for cash prizes and championship trophies. The development marks a significant step towards rebuilding grassroots football and restoring competitive sports at the county level.
Zorzor Set for Valentine’s Day Kickoff
In Zorzor Administrative District, the Zorzor Sub-Committee will host five clubs representing communities in and around Zorzor. The league is scheduled to officially kick-off on February 14, 2026, a date expected to draw large crowds as football lovers celebrate the return of competitive matches after a prolonged break.
Local sports stakeholders say the Zorzor league will serve as a platform for young talents to showcase their skills while strengthening unity among participating communities.
Voinjama League Returns First
Football activities in Voinjama, the capital of Lofa County, will resume even earlier, with kickoff slated for February 7, 2026. The Voinjama Sub-Committee will oversee a competitive league involving ten clubs from various communities within and around the city.
The league will determine the 2025–2026 National 3rd Division League champion, ending a year-long absence of officially recognized football in the area.
Sports enthusiasts in Voinjama have welcomed the news, describing it as a long-awaited return of organized competition.
Foya and Kolahun Join the Revival
Further north, the Foya League is scheduled to commence on February 15, 2026, with five clubs representing different localities within the Foya Statutory District.
Meanwhile, Kolahun is also preparing for a historic restart of its league after missing an entire season of recognized competition.
Although the exact kickoff date for Kolahun has not yet been announced, the Sub-Committee leadership is currently consulting with club stakeholders to finalize the schedule, signaling strong intent to fully reintroduce competitive football in the district.
