Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County |Feb. 4, 2026|In an exclusive interview conducted on February 2, 2026, the newly appointed Commander Mr. Milton K. Howard of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) for Grand Gedeh County has signaled a “zero-tolerance” approach toward the sale and distribution of illicit substances within the region.
Speaking with reporters, the Commander emphasized that his leadership will focus on a dual strategy: aggressive field operations to dismantle drug hubs and a robust community-driven awareness campaign to discourage youth involvement in narcotics.
”Our mission is clear to secure the borders and streets of Grand Gedeh from the scourge of illicit drugs that threaten the future of our young people,” the Commander stated during the sit-down.
Key Priorities for the New Administration
Border Surveillance: Increasing patrols along the porous borders to intercept the inflow of illegal substances.
Community Policing: Building trust with local residents to encourage the reporting of suspicious activities.
The Commander’s appointment comes at a critical time as the county faces rising concerns over the prevalence of “Kush” and other harmful substances. He called on the citizens of Grand Gedeh to see the LDEA as a partner in progress rather than a force of intimidation.
The new leadership has pledged to work closely with the joint security apparatus and the local judiciary to ensure that drug traffickers face the full weight of the law, while simultaneously advocating for better resources and logistics to empower his officers on the front lines.
