Monrovia, Liberia  |April 24, 2026 | The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has rolled out a content creator training program aimed at equipping aspiring digital entertainers with skills to compete in the growing new media industry.

According to LTA Chairman Clarence K. Massaquoi a post shared ahead of the Ministry of Information recent press briefing, the training is being positioned as the first step towards polishing the skills for Liberians seeking to enter the world of new media entertainment and earn a living from it.

“While monetization in the digital space requires more than training, the LTA-backed program is an imperative first step” Massaquoi noted.

The initiative comes as platforms like Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram expand monetization options across Africa, opening new income streams for creators who can meet content and audience requirements.

The LTA has made it possible, Chairman Massaquoi stated, signaling the regulator’s push to build local digital talent alongside infrastructure.

The in-house training will accommodate 150 participants. For those who don’t secure a seat, the LTA said there will be live streaming of the sessions to ensure wider access.

Details on dates, venue, application process, and curriculum were not included. Attendees at the MOI press conference are expected to receive full guidelines.

The training aligns with national efforts to expand Liberia’s digital economy and reduce youth unemployment by tapping into global creator platforms.

With mobile penetration rising and data costs slowly declining, more Liberians are turning to content creation in comedy, music, education, and commentary.

Industry experts note that success in new media requires not just creativity, but knowledge of algorithms, audience engagement, branding, video editing, and platform policies — skills often missing for first-time creators.

The LTA has not yet announced whether the program will include partnerships with Meta, Google, or TikTok, or if participants will receive certification.
