Konia, Lofa County |March 7, 2026‎|The newly assigned Police Commander for Konia, Mohammed Boikai, has raised serious concerns over what he describes as a growing wave of criminal activities in Camp One and surrounding communities.

Commander Boikai said the situation in the area is becoming increasingly dangerous, with frequent reports of theft, fighting, and attempts by some residents to forcibly remove suspects from police custody before investigations are completed.

According to him, such actions are undermining the rule of law and making it more difficult for the police to effectively carry out their duties.

Despite the challenges, Commander Boikai noted that the few police officers currently assigned to the area are working tirelessly to maintain law and order. He added that efforts are ongoing to request additional personnel from the national government to strengthen security operations in the district.

The Konia Police Commander also disclosed that a stakeholders’ meeting was recently held with local chiefs and community leaders aimed at strengthening collaboration between the police and community members in the fight against crime.

As part of efforts to improve community policing, Commander Boikai revealed that more than 68 members of the Community Watch Forum have been trained to help report suspicious activities and prevent crime, particularly in remote communities that are difficult for police officers to access regularly.

However, he expressed concern over what he described as a growing lack of respect for law enforcement officers in some parts of the community.

Commander Boikai is urging residents to respect the rule of law and cooperate with the police, warning that those who attempt to interfere with police duties or obstruct investigations must immediately desist from such actions.

He emphasized that community leaders are fully aware of the individuals trained to support police operations, and called on all residents to work together to ensure peace and security in Konia District.
