Fessibu, Lofa County |May 6, 2026 |A high-level delegation from Lofa County University (LCU) has conducted a comprehensive assessment of facilities at the Change Agent Network University (CAN-U) campus in Fessibu, Zorzor District, as part of preparations for the institution’s planned transition to LCU.
According to an official release, the delegation was led by LCU’s Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Augustine M. Ngafua. The team toured key facilities, including classrooms, water and sanitation systems, and other infrastructure deemed critical to supporting academic activities.
The visit comes ahead of an anticipated formal handover program and forms part of LCU’s broader strategy to decentralize higher education and increase access for students across Lofa County.
LCU President, Dr. Isaac Podah, speaking during the visit, reaffirmed the university’s readiness to expand its academic footprint within the county. He commended the administration, staff, and students of CAN-U for their resilience despite longstanding challenges, and urged prospective students in the region to seize the opportunity the transition presents.
Dr. Podah also expressed appreciation to CAN-U Proprietor, Eric Woiwor, describing his decision to turn over the facility as “patriotic” and beneficial to the county’s educational development.
For his part, Mr. Woiwor welcomed the LCU delegation and praised the university’s leadership for taking steps to sustain and upgrade the institution.
Meanwhile, CAN-U Student Government President, Fomba Dukuly, described the planned takeover as a significant relief for students, many of whom have faced academic and institutional uncertainties in recent years.
The CAN-U campus, situated on approximately 6.8 acres of land in Fessibu, is valued at an estimated US$400,000.
The LCU delegation also included Chief Accountant Joseph Kanneh, Director for General Services Musulyn Stryker Jallah, Human Resource Director John Lake, Agriculture College Instructor William Dorbor, Engineering College Instructor Miller Garmi, Assistant Dean for Extension Mohammed Sheriff, and Public Relations Officer Edward Kollie.
The planned transition is expected to strengthen LCU’s presence in Lofa County and provide improved learning opportunities for students in Zorzor and surrounding districts.
