River Gee County | May 9, 2026 | Despite current economic challenges facing many communities across Liberia, students of Tweh Jaiklay High School in River Gee County demonstrated determination, unity, and leadership during the institution’s annual queen contest.

The colorful and highly competitive event, organized by the government-run high school in the county capital, was aimed at encouraging students’ participation in extracurricular and leadership activities while also raising funds to support campus-related programs and initiatives.

At the conclusion of the contest, Patience Toe, a 9th-grade student, of the Tweh Jaiklay High emerged victorious and was officially crowned Queen, while, fellow student Hellen Sneh secured a position of “School Princess” after an impressive performance throughout the competition at the county capital first government-run institution.

Both contestants received overwhelming support from friends, classmates, family members, and well-wishers during the fundraising competition.

Patience Toe raised a total of LD$93,930, making her the highest fundraiser and earning her the prestigious queen title, while Hellen Sneh followed closely behind with a total of LD$77,880, which secured her the princess crown.

Overall, the institution has generated LD$171,810 from the annual queen contest, highlighting the strong level of support and participation from the student community.

Speaking during the coronation ceremony, former queen of the institution, Sarovina Worjolo congratulated both contestants for their courage, commitment, and determination throughout the contest.

She encouraged the newly crowned queen and princess to serve as role models by remaining respectful, cooperative, and dedicated to promoting the interests and welfare of their fellow students.

For his part, school principal, Alex L. Zenebain, said funds raised from the competition will be used to construct a “Queen Palace”, a special space designed to provide comfort and support for the school queen while carrying out her responsibilities during recess period and school activities.

He further praised both contestants for their active participation and meaningful contributions toward the success of the program, describing the event as a positive step toward strengthening student leadership and school development initiatives.
