Grand Bassa, Buchanan- November 15, 2024 -The Elders of Wee Statutory District in Grand Bassa County, have written a Letter of complaint to the United States Embassy near Monrovia, alleging that, Representative H. Alfred Flomo is inciting violence and hindering the smooth operations of the “Voice of Wee Community” Radio station.

The complaint highlights serious concerns about political interference, in local governance and community-driven initiatives.

In a Letter addressed to the United States Embassy near Monrovia recently, the Elders Council of the district expressed its concerns regarding the recent incident which has embarrassed the operation of the community radio station.

The station which has been selected for a USAID funded initiative in collaboration with Internews was meant to provide a platform for community engagements and development. The letter detailed series of events that started with a stakeholders meeting aimed at creating an independent governance structure for the station.

During the meeting, community members took a bold step by forming a committee made up of community leaders thus, avoiding political appointments to oversee the selection of the Board of Directors and management team.

According to the Letter, the community-driven approach was designed to ensure that, the station truly reflects the diverse interests and voices of Wee Statutory District.
