River Gee County-Nov. 28, 2024-The River Gee County Vocational and Technical Training Institution (RIVITTI) has received two vehicles for its transportation and technical enhancement programs. The vehicles, which were donated by Senator Francis Dopoh, include, a thirty-two seated Hyundai bus and Toyota Corolla Vehicles.

Making the presentation, Senator Dopoh said the thirty-two seated Hyundai bus is for the administration and instructors of the T-VET program, and is intended to mitigate the daily transportation challenges faced by the school administration to convey instructors and students to work. As for the Toyota Corolla, Senator Dopoh said it is to be used for practical purpose by the department of Auto Mechanic.

The Senator noted that the gesture was in fulfillment of his campaign promises made during the 2023 presidential and legislative elections to support quality and better education in River Gee County. He added that with lot of technical skills in more young people in the county, hardship will reduce in River Gee because most young people will be self-reliance and engaged in life changing activities.

“We want to make this clear that, it does not mean that we do not have interest in other tertiary institutions; but we are concerned about the technical skills as a county to have a comparative advantage in human resource development”. He added.

He therefore urged students of the RIVITTI to make use of the learning opportunity by putting in time and seriousness for the purpose of improving development in River Gee.

Receiving the donations on behalf of the institution, Jerry K. Bleh, Executive Director of RIVITTI, thanked Senator Dopoh and promised that the vehicles will be used for its intended purpose.

The students of RIVTTI who spoke exclusively with the Rural Reporters News Network during the presentation, hailed Senator Francis Dopoh for helping to address one of their major challenges they go through daily in achieving their educational goal. They called on other sons and daughters of the county to support the only vocational and technical school in the county.

In October of 2024, RIVTTI commenced her first academic year with over 300 students. The school offers discipline in 13 technical areas. These includes; General Agriculture, which covers rice, oil-palm, vegetables, piggery, poultry, and root tubers, along with General Construction, Carpentry, Masonry, Plumbing, Electrical work, Tailoring, and Auto Mechanics.

RIVITTI has a budget allocation of $364,143 from the Ministry of Education total budget of $111.3 million in 2024.
