River Gee County, Fish Town City –Saturday, March 15, 2025 – In a bid to buttress government efforts in improving the educational sector of River Gee County, the River Gee County Association Based in America has dedicated the first public Library in Fish-Town, River Gee County
The modern public library with offices is worth over Forty Five Thousand United States Dollars including placement of different kinds of reading books.

This marks the first public library being constructed and dedicated by the River Gee County Association Based in America (RIGCAA).
Speaking at the dedicatory program over the weekend, the President of the River Gee County Association Based in America, Mr. Aloysius S. Benjamin, said the library is the organization’s own way of identifying with the public and students of River Gee County.
He described students are the future leaders of Liberia and investing in the educational sector now will enable them make a positive change and transformation in society.

Benjamin maintained that providing an enabling learning environment for the kids will increase their appetite for education and prepare them to contribute to the national growth and development of the county and country.
The president encouraged the students and teachers in River Gee to ensure that the facility is properly utilized.
“We are happy to share back home development for the betterment of our future leaders and to also partner with the ministry of education in accepting us to construct the first public library or reading room. We hope it benefits all of you. “We also want the entire population of River Gee County weather in school or not have the opportunity to have access to this building reading room or library,” he said.
The RIGCAA’s President also added that the provision of reading rooms is aimed at encouraging students to comprehend and do well in their lessons.

Mr. Benjamin added that Liberian students barely read and as such the availability of the reading rooms will help bridge the gap.
The Association President mentioned that the inequality gap between the poor and the rich will only be closed when education is prioritized and more Liberians are educated.
“We have a mission and vision to ensure that students have access to books to ensure that children are able to read. But more importantly ensuring everything to make sure that we are able to close the inequality gap-which can only be closed in making sure that more of our children are educated, and that is why we have to take learning seriously,”RIGCAA’s President concluded.
Meanwhile River Gee County Senator, Francis Saidy Dopoe and former Senator Conmany B. Wesseh, cutting the ribbon maintained that students will not do better in school if they cannot read well, thus urging parents to encourage their kids to prioritize reading.
The both said reading enhances the ability of students and making it a priority, will help Liberian students compete with their counterparts in neighboring countries in regional exams such as WAEC and WASSCE.
They further added that, “Reading and Research” are the most important subjects in every society because if you can’t read and research, you cannot perform well in any public test.
The two Statesmen have called on students, school administrators and residents of Fish Town to take ownership of the facility and sustainably manage same for the collective good the county and its citizens.
For his part, River Gee County Superintendent, Mike Swengbe has described the project as a dream come true and called on the association to bring more if the County is to develop.
However, Ministry of Education local office in River Gee County was left out for recognition at the opening ceremony of the public Library but was well attended by score of citizens who have come to observe River Gee Independence day celebrations in Fish Town, River Gee County.
Therefore books brought in by the Association contain lot of different kinds of subjects to encourage the students and public learning efforts.
