    Violent Storm Destroys 11 Homes in Wombohowai Town

    Kolahun District, Wombohowai Town, March 28, 2025-Kolahun District, A violent storm has destroyed over 11 homes in Wombohowai Town in Kolahun District, leaving more than 50 residents homeless. The storm caused significant damage to the small community, leaving families in desperate need of assistance.

    In an emotional interview with Harleyngee Community Radio, youth chairman Stephen Karpu spoke about the heartbreaking situation, lamenting the impact of the heavy rain on the town’s residents.

    “Over 50 individuals have lost their homes to this storm,” The situation is dire, especially since our community is small and the majority of houses have been damaged.” Youth Chairman Karpu lamented.

    The town chief, Bongulee Jombo, echoed the sentiments and made an urgent appeal to local authorities, including district representative Momo Siafa Kpoto, Senator Joseph K. Jallah, Senator Momo T. Cyrus, Hon Clarence K Massaquoi as well as individuals, NGOs, and government bodies.

    “We need help,” Jombo urged, saying “Our community is in crisis, and immediate action is required to support those who have lost their homes.”

    Residents affected by the damage expressed their frustration and despair as they face the harsh reality of their new living conditions. Many are now sleeping on the floor. The town hall which usual serves as alternative home during such disaster also sustained serious damage.

    The residents pleaded for urgently needed materials to help them rebuild their homes. “Let the people help us with zinc now so we can fix our houses,” they stressed. As the community grapples with recovery efforts, the call for aid has been amplified, highlighting the urgent need for support to help the residents of Wombohowai Town rebuild their lives.

    The local authorities and community leaders are now working together to coordinate relief efforts for those affected by this devastating storm.
