Salayea, Lofa County –Tuesday, April 1, 2025- Several sections of the road between Salayea and Telemu Town in Salayea Administrative District are rapidly deteriorating due to persistent heavy rainfall, creating major concerns for travelers, vehicle operators, and residents.

Reports from commuters and local inhabitants indicate that the road conditions have worsened significantly, posing serious transportation difficulties. The affected road, a crucial link for communities in the region, is gradually becoming impassable as erosion and mudslides continue to damage its structure.

Car drivers and motorcycle riders have expressed frustration over the worsening situation, emphasizing that the road’s deteriorating state makes travel increasingly dangerous and time-consuming.

A concerned local resident, speaking to Rural Reporter News Network, highlighted the urgency of the situation. “If nothing is done soon, the road might become completely impassable.

Another troublesome spot that is fast-deteriorating and requires urgent action.

The poor road conditions have sparked calls for immediate intervention from the Ministry of Public Works. Residents and travelers are urging authorities to undertake urgent maintenance and rehabilitation efforts to prevent further damage.

“A well-maintained road is essential for easy movement and economic activities. If these bad spots are not fixed, people will continue to suffer, and business operations will be heavily affected,” another commuter stated.

Yet a challenging spot for low to ground taxi and other vans around the same spot between Salayea and Telemu.

As the rainy season continues, residents remain hopeful that intervention efforts will be initiated to alleviate the challenges faced by road users in Salayea and Telemu Town.
