River Gee County, April 3, 2025-A tragic accident that happened in Webbo yeeborken, River Gee County has left a 51-year-old man dead after he allegedly shot himself during a hunting expedition.

The incident occurred on March 29, 2025 in the Yeeborken, River Gee Forest, electoral district #3, which is located in the southeastern part of River Gee, about 65KM away from the County Capital, Fish-Town.

Report from the scene said, Anthony Davis, a hunter and resident of the area went into the forest where he allegedly took his own life using a single-barrel gun with no reason.

Upon receiving the information, officers of the Liberia National Police’s Crime Service Division of the River Gee detachment, visited the scene and met Davis in a pool of blood, with a single-barrel gun nearby.

A fifteen men coroner’s jurors that was set up to examine the body reported no foul play, suggesting that hunter David may have mistakenly shot himself leading to his demise. The body of David has since been handed over to family members for burial.

“The tragic incident highlights the critical importance of firearm safety, especially in rural areas” local police stated in a warning to the public.

The Liberia National Police in River Gee detachment County have therefore launched an investigation into the incident to determine any further contributing factors, while local authorities are also reviewing the situation to prevent similar accidents in the future.

Authorities are urging residents of River Gee and surrounding areas to follow safety protocols when handling firearms, especially during hunting activities, to ensure such tragedies are avoided.
