Grand Kru County, Liberia —Monday, April 20, 2025-A 7-year-old boy identified as Amos Teah has managed to escape what authorities are calling a near-fatal abduction attempt in Grand Kru County.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning, April 19, 2025 between 3am and 4am in a room where at least five juveniles normally sleep, raising alarms within the Kayken Community of Barclayville regarding child safety and security.

According to family sources, the young boy was among four other children of the same family inside the room in Kayken Community when an unidentified individual surprisingly entered the room attempting to kidnap the 7-year-old Amos Teah, but was exposed following alarms from one of the Children who slept in the room.

Following the incident, family members immediately contacted Police in the area and are actively investigating the incident.

According to our Correspondent, the Liberia National Police Grand Kru Detachment is urging community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities within their locality. “This is a very serious matter, and we are doing everything we can to find the individual responsible for this attempted kidnapping,” said ACP Clement Barllat, the head of the Grand Kru Police Detachment. “We encourage parents to keep a close eye on their children, particularly when they are playing outside.”

Our Correspondent said residents of the Kayken Community are in shock following the incident; as such occurrences are rare in the area.

Parents who spoke with our Correspondent expressed their fears about the safety of their children and are seeking ways to increase security measures within the neighborhood. “I never thought something like this could happen here,” said Mercy Teah, sister to the survivor victim, “We always believed our Community was a safe place for our children.”

Meanwhile, authorities of the Liberia National Police Grand Kru Detachment are asking anyone with information related to the incident or who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Police in Grand Kru County said, the safety of children remains a top priority, and local leaders are committed to ensuring that Grand Kru County remains a secure environment for all its residents.

However, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and community solidarity in protecting children from potential threats.
