GRAND BASSA – Grand Bassa County’s first recorded case of mpox, a 20-year-old male, who was over the weekend announced missing from his temporary isolation center, has been turned in to health authorities by family members, Rural Reporters News Network (RRNN) has reliably gathered.
The RRNN reported Monday, that the 20-year-old had escaped his isolation center in Zondo Community, electoral District #4, according to health authorities in Grand Bassa.
But latest reports from Buchanan the capital of Grand Bassa, indicate that the escaped mpox patient, whose whereabouts were apparently known by members of his family when he escaped his temporary isolation, was a few hours ago turned in to the Grand Bassa County Health Team.
News that the escaped mpox patient has been found and turned in to health authorities has been greeted by jubilation in Grand Bassa, as many see this as a great relief, especially with his escape from the isolation center earlier causing panic among the population in that part of the country.
Sources in Buchanan told RRNN that in a bid to ensure public safety, it took the persistent and coordinated efforts of local government officials and Grand Bassa County medical practitioners to have prevailed on family members of the mpox patient to turn him in.
