Kolahun District, Gbandi Chiefdom–The Fassavolu Development Association (FADA) on June 29, 2025 wrapped up its three-day transformative peer mentorship program in Fassavolu Town.
The mentorship program focused on critical issues affecting today’s youth, including the role of young people in society, teenage pregnancy, menstrual hygiene, the importance of education, and strategies for managing peer pressure. Attendees not only benefited from the insightful discussions but also honed their skills in spelling bee contest.
The event drew participation from students, parents, and educators who expressed their gratitude for the positive impact of the mentorship program.
FDA CEO, Joseph Fatorma Sando was lauded for his unwavering support and commitment to the development of the Gbandi Chiefdom community. “Your leadership has fostered an environment where students can thrive academically and personally”, said participants.

The mentorship program culminated in the awarding of certificates to 22 participants, recognizing their commitment and engagement throughout the initiative.
The spelling bee attracted competition, with students vying for top honors and academic scholarships. In a thrilling finale, Yarkpawolo S. Kollie from Fassavolu Public School emerged as the champion, securing first place. Joseph Tamba followed closely behind, earning second place, while Obediah Isaac claimed third. All three winners received full scholarships to further their education, highlighting FADA’s dedication to nurturing future leaders.
The event also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the coaches who guided the students, ensuring they were well-prepared for the competition. Parents, teachers, and community members gathered to celebrate the achievements of their young scholars, while expressing their appreciation for FADA’s efforts to uplift the community through education and mentorship.
“The training and support our children received have been exceptional,” remarked one parent. “We are grateful for FADA and Hon. Joseph Fatorma Sando for investing in our children’s future.”
The success of the peer mentorship program reflects FADA’s commitment to community development, focusing on empowerment rather than political agendas.
