    Finance Development Initiative at Lukambeh: Microfinance Bank to Open Shortly

    Boawalahun Town, Lukameh Administrative district |Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025| In an effort to provide easy access to financial transaction in lower Lofa, particularly the Gbandi Chiefdom, a new microfinance banking institution is expected to be officially opened in Boawalahun Town, Lukameh Administrative district, Lofa County.

    According to the Management of the Boawalahun Community Microfinance Bank Incorporated, headed by Madam Garmai Bunipele,the the official opening of the bank is scheduled to take place on December 28, 2025, but activities leading to the December 28, will commence on December 26, 2025.

    “The establishment of Boawolahun Community Microfinance Bank INC is meant to serve the people by providing accessible financial services that will support small businesses, farmers, and entrepreneurs,” Madam Bunipele,the said.

    “We are therefore inviting all citizens and stakeholders to come and witness this historic moment,” she added.

    The official opening ceremony is scheduled to take place in three-day period, from December 26 to 28, 2025, and is expected to bring together community leaders, local authorities, business owners, and residents from across the district and surrounding areas.

    The establishment of the Boawolahun Community Microfinance Bank is seen as a significant step toward promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment in the region. The institution aims to provide accessible financial services, including savings, loans, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly for farmers, traders, and youth.

    This will be the second Rural Community Micro Finance Banking Institution in Lofa County particularly the Gbandi Chiefdom.

    The first Micro Finance Bank was the Kolahun Rural Community Finance Institution, Inc. (Kolahun RCFI).

    Since the establishment of the Kolahun Rural Financing Institution Inc., with partnership with the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Afriland Bank, they been contributing to the Business community and Government employees in rural Liberia, including Lofa County.
