FISSEBU TOWN, Lofa County — May 13, 2025- Authorities in Fissebu Town have officially accepted a proposal to launch the Fissebu Annual Development Festival in a landmark move which signals a fresh wave of community empowerment and cultural revival. The initiative, spearheaded by the Fissebu Youth Development Association (FYDA), aims to promote unity, preservation of local heritage, and the funding of annual development projects.
Last week, a five-member delegation of FYDA from Monrovia led by its head, Isaac F. Mulbah, visited Fissebu Town to secure the town’s support for the festival. Isaac Mulbah was accompanied by FYDA’s Secretary General, Isaac Beyan, along with Mulbah Korboi, Alphanso G. Kalama and David B. Lavelah. The Monrovia delegation of the group was warmly received by local residents of the town.
Prior to the Fissebu meeting, the Monrovia delegation held informal discussions with youth leaders and reinstated the town’s symbolic ‘Welcome and Bon Voyage’ signs at its main entrances — a gesture which marked the return of active community engagement.
The team later presented its official proposal during a general town’s meeting which attracted community leaders and residents of Fissebu and neighboring villages. The proposal received unanimous endorsement from the leadership of the town headed by James K. Harris and Kpadebah Bryant, President of the Fissebu Development Association.
The proposal seeks to identify and launch one major annual developmental project based on community’s need. It also intends to raise funds for festival-driven activities aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural identity of Fissebu Town.

The group believes that the proposed annual week-long festivities which will comprise of cultural exhibition through traditional music, dances, arts and crafts climaxed with sporting activities will strengthen social cohesion among quarters and nearby villages.

FYDA acknowledges the collaboration of towns leaders for the success of the annual event. It has therefore called for the setting up of organizing committee and other auxiliary groups in different areas of interest.
The leadership of the association expressed gratitude to all members who contributed to the successful presentation of its proposal and praised the town’s leadership for embracing its vision. “This is more than just a festival — it’s a movement to ignite Fissebu’s future,” said Isaac F. Mulbah.
The acceptance of the proposal marks the beginning of a transformative journey for Fissebu, blending culture, development, and unity into a single, sustainable platform for change.
