Henry’s Town, Gbarpolu County– November 26, 2025–During a recent visit to Henry’s Town, one of the chiefdom’s largest and most vibrant mining communities, youth representative Alahaji Konneh spoke with a tone filled with frustration and disappointment.

He said the absence of a high school is not a new challenge but an “age-old problem” that the people of Koninga Chiefdom have endured for decades.

Alahaji Konneh,A Youth Representative of Henry Town.

Konneh explained that the lack of a secondary school has forced many children to abandon their education prematurely, especially those whose parents cannot afford to send them to faraway towns to complete high school.

“Our people have suffered this for too long,” he lamented. “Leaders have come and gone, but the story remains the same – no high school for our children.”

The youth representative squarely blamed county authorities and Gbarpolu County lawmakers for what he described as years of neglect. According to him, successive leaders have shown little interest in addressing the educational needs of Koninga Chiefdom, despite repeated appeals from residents.

Konneh also reminded their district lawmaker of the promise he made during the campaign period to construct a high school in Henry’s Town. He urged the representative to turn that promise into reality, stressing that the future of the youth depends on it.

Henry’s Town – a bustling mining hub in the heart of the chiefdom — is home to hardworking residents who engage in mining as their main source of income. Yet despite its economic activity, the town and surrounding communities continue to struggle with the painful disadvantage of having no secondary school to support the academic growth of their children.

For the youth of Koninga Chiefdom, the message is clear: development must begin with education, and the time for action is long overdue.

It goes without adding that “For as long as many can remember, Koninga Chiefdom in Bopolu District has long existed without a single high school; a reality that generations of young people say has crippled their dreams and slowed the progress of an entire community.”
