Grand Kru County:LDEA Officers Undergo Intensive Weeklong Training In Enhancing Drug Enforcement Capabilities

Grand Kru County, Liberia –Tuesday, September 23, 2025-Several officers from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Grand Kru County Detachment are participating in a weeklong intensive capacity building training program aimed at strengthening their skills in combating drug-related crimes.

The weeklong intensive capacity building training which is supported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and implemented by the LDEA, covers critical topics such as the interdiction of precursor chemicals, investigative interviewing techniques, and risk profiling at seaports.

Fred G. Souh, Chief of Trainers, emphasized the importance of this training during an exclusive interview at the launch of the program in Barclayville.

The weeklong intensive capacity building training runs from Monday, September 22, to Friday September 26, 2025.

He highlighted that addressing the complexities of drug enforcement requires collective efforts, calling for enhanced logistical support from the national government, county authorities, and active involvement from local citizens to effectively combat the illicit drug trade in Liberia.

“This training is not just about enhancing the skills of our officers; it is about building a stronger and more coordinated response to the growing threat of drug trafficking and abuse in our communities,” Souh stated.

Mr. Souh underscored that the knowledge gained during the training will empower the officers to perform their duties more effectively, improving their operational success rates in the fight against drugs.

The Chief Trainer noted that the weeklong training is designed to provide participants with practical tools and methodologies that they can apply in their daily operations.

According to him, the focus on seaport risk profiling is particularly pertinent, as these locations are critical points for the trafficking of illegal drugs into the country.

Fred Souh expressed his optimism that LDEA officers in Grand Kru County will implement what they have learned, leading to enhanced performance and more significant impacts in their enforcement efforts.

“With the right skills and community support, I believe our officers can make remarkable strides in their mission to combat drugs,” he said.

The initiative reflects a growing recognition of the need for specialized training and resources in the fight against drug trafficking, which poses significant challenges to public health and safety in Liberia.
