Barclayville – The male football team of Sass-Town High School and the kick-ball team of the P.G. Wolloh High School, have emerged winners respectively in the National High School Sports-organized nationwide tournament, Grand Kru County version held 16 and 17 July 2025.
Four high schools including the P.G. Wolloh High School, Buah Central High School, Sass-Town High School, and Barclayville Central High School, participated in the two days sporting events.
Sass-Town High School finished as champs in the National High School Sports 2025 High School Championship in Grand Kru, following a nail-biting one zero encounter against the soccer team of defending champions, P.G. Wolloh High School.

However, the kick-ball team of P.G. Wolloh High School also put up a splendid show, emerging champions in the kick-ball category of the tournament, with a defeat to Sass-Town High School.
The tournament kicked off Wednesday, 16 July, with Sass-Town High School showing impressive form, thrashing Barclayville Central High School 3-0, at the Barclayville City sports pitch.
Sass-Town High School soccer team’s impressive performance set the stage for a showdown with defending champions and winners of the 2017 version of the tourney, P.G. Wolloh High School, a team renowned for its beautiful soccer display.
The match was intensive, as both teams battled for supremacy, but it was the Sass-Town High School team, with its determination and strategic gameplay that ultimately got a narrow victory over the P.G. Wolloh High School side that was superb both in coordination and control.

The two winning teams were awarded a cash prize of 25,000 Liberian dollars each by the organizer, National High School Sports, in recognition of not just the teams’ outstanding display of skills, but also for the spirit of competition that defines the tournament.
Youthful players of both High Schools, Sass-Town and P.G. Wolloh, showcased their remarkable talents Liberian youth are noted for displaying in sporting activities, underscoring the importance of such tournaments in fostering teamwork and exhibiting the skills and talents of talented young Liberians.
The National High School Sports-organized nationwide tournament is a pivotal platform for young athletes to demonstrate their abilities and aspire to greater heights in their careers.
For now, Sass-Town High School’s male football team revels in their well-deserved victory and sails to the next stage of the national tournament, while P.G. Wolloh High School’s kick-ball team prepares for the next level, the Regional Tournament, to be played in Greenville, Sinoe County.
Meanwhile, the just-ended 2025 Grand Kru County High School Championship held in Barclayville City, is an integral component, the primary phase of a three-stage nationwide tournament, which encompasses the County High School Championship, Regional Championship, and National Championship.
