Montserrado County, Monrovia-Tuesday, February 25, 2025-The House Plenary has mandated its relevant committees to review two separate Bills seeking to establish a Labor Court and Probate Court in Nimba County respectively.
The Committees on Judiciary, Internal Affairs, Ways, Means and Finance and Good Governance are to review the instruments and advise Plenary within two weeks.
The decision taken by the lawmakers was based on a communication and submission of the Bills by Hon. Samuel G. Kogar of Electoral District # 5 Nimba County during the 11th day sitting (1st Quarter) of the 2nd Session of the 55th National Legislature.
The Bill titled: “An Act for the Establishment of a Labor Court In Nimba County” is seeking to address the huge presence of the labor force in the mining sector and trade in the County.
According to the lawmaker, this will amicably resolve the growing labor cases and ease the burden of the only Circuit Court that is overly burdened with civil and criminal cases.
“Per the growing labor cases and with the single Circuit Court that is over burdened with criminal and civil cases and that the creation of a labor court will bring industrial harmony…” he stated in his letter.
The Bill Title “An Act to Create a Probate Court in Nimba County” is also seeking to address the reduction of land related disputes growing out of land ownership and its legitimate title and other Probate related matters.
