MANAGORDUAH, GOLA KONNEH DISTRICT-A local farmer, Abraham Gondah aka NKor Blama has died while burning his family farm. The incident occurred today, Monday, March 10, 2025 in Mana Clan, Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County.

A family member, Pa Jusu Kromah who was as part of the team that went to burn the farm said four persons went to burn the farm at 1:30pm. As part of their strategy, they split the team into two. One team was tasked to burn the upper part of the farm, while the other group took on the lower part.

“When we divided ourselves, after a while I just heard my name ‘JU hooo… JU hooo’ NKor Blama die yaaaa, he under the fire…” Pa Jusu Kromah told D-1.

He noted that the deceased, NKor Blama, had been a resident of Managorduah for at least 20 years, adding, this was the first time the town ever witness such tragedy. Mr. Kromah cautioned other farmers to be very careful during the burning of their farms as this misfortune came as a total shock to them.

For His part, Elijah Malikie Sirleaf who spoke on behalf of the young people of Managorduah expressed total sadness, terming the situation as the first of its kind to take place in Managorduah.

“It’s saddened. The deceased was like an uncle to me. From my baby time, He’s been here. For over 20yrs, He lived here. And the farm in question is my mother’s farm. We regret the situation.” Mr. Sirleaf added.

Farming plays an essential role in the livelihood of the locals in Gola Konneh District since artisanal mining activities are gradually subsiding in the areas. Many of the residents including stakeholders of the district are now shifting to the soil.

At the time D-1 Radio visited the scene, there was no presence of members of the national security. Meanwhile, the actual cause of the entrapment of NKor Blama in the fire is yet to be established as the photo taken show severe burn on his legs and face.
