Voinjama City, Lofa County —Friday, October 24, 2025—The long-awaited Lofa County Electoral District League officially kicked off on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Voinjama Sports Pitch with an electrifying opening match between Voinjama District #4 and Vahun District #2, ending in a dramatic 1–1 draw.
The competition, which brings together football teams from Districts #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5, is being proudly supported by their respective Representatives and aims to foster peace, unity, and youth engagement across the county.
The opening ceremony was graced by several county officials, including Lofa County Superintendent, Hon. J. Lavelah Massaquoi, who performed the official kickoff of the tournament. Speaking before the match, Superintendent Massaquoi encouraged all participating teams to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and unity, noting that the tournament serves as a vital platform for promoting peace and development through sports.
The opening encounter lived up to its billing, drawing hundreds of spectators from across the county who filled the Voinjama Sports Pitch with cheers, songs, and excitement.
In the first half, James Tubogar of District #4 (Voinjama) — wearing the #10 jersey — found the back of the net with a brilliant strike that sent home fans into celebration. However, Vahun District #2 fought back strongly in the second half, and their star player Oscar Joe Joe, also wearing jersey #10, converted a well-earned penalty kick, leveling the score at 1–1.

Despite several attempts from both sides to secure a late winner, the score line remained unchanged until the final whistle, leaving fans eager for what promises to be an exciting tournament ahead.
