MONROVIA, Oct 10, 2024-Liberia Telecommunications Authority Acting Chair Abdullah L. Kamara has underscored the importance of Cyber Security in digital advancement in Liberia. Kamara said Cyber security is crucial in protecting personal data, government and business information against theft and other vices.
The LTA Boss made the statement Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the launch of a three day Cyber security awareness conference in Congo town Monrovia “It’s incumbent upon the government to ensure that we have the appropriate regulatory and legal framework to guide our people against Cyber security threat” chairman Kamara emphasized.
The conference which was organized by the Liberia Telecommunications Authority aims to share lights on the site of Cyber security. Meanwhile, Chairman Kamara has extorted stakeholders and policymakers for attending the occasion while urging them to utilize knowledge that they acquired to safeguard the country against future Cyber security threats.
For his part, Post and Telecommunications Ministry Sakou Kromah in remark at the three-day cyber security awareness conference said the ministry has developed a framework aimed prosecuting Cyber-crimes in Liberia. Minister Kromah said currently, the instrument of Cyber-crime act has been presented to the House of senate for revision and confirmation.
The document, when confirmed, will establish a legal ground against digital crimes as well as create an environment against Cyber-crimes in Liberia. The Post and Telecommunications Boss craved for collective support from relevant stakeholders to enhance Cyber security system in the country.
