Monrovia, Liberia-Thursday, October 02, 2025- The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has issued its first-ever insurance Value-Added Services (VAS) aggregators license, marking a significant milestone in the country’s telecommunications industry.

This development aims to promote Liberian entrepreneurs and foster innovation, consumer protection, and reliable service delivery nationwide.

Commissioner for Licensing and Regulations Ben Fofana, representing the LTA Board of Commissioners, emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating, “We believe this will strengthen confidence, encourage investment, and support the growth of our digital economy.”

He highlighted the Board’s commitment to opening up the telecom market to allow broader participation, including smaller Liberian operators.

Fofana revealed that despite initial interest, only five applicants have completed the licensing process so far, with the goal to license at least ten operators by the end of December. Licensees have been urged to strictly adhere to regulatory requirements to maintain sector integrity and sustainability.

The licensees collectively conveyed a shared vision of contributing to the country’s economy and digital future through this new licensing initiative. One licensee expressed gratitude and optimism, saying, “Our company looks forward to working and creating a partnership with LTA and seeing how best we can own our own infrastructure that will open new doors for young Liberian entrepreneurs in non-traditional sectors.”

The LTA’s issuance of these licenses demonstrates its commitment to promoting Liberian entrepreneurs and fostering a sustainable digital economy.

As the country’s telecom sector continues to evolve, this development is expected to create new opportunities for Liberian businesses and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
