Voinjama City – The production of clothes from locally woven cloths, is on the increase in Lofa County, Rural Reporters News Network (RRNN) has reliably gathered.

More women and Men in Lofa County are now involved in the production of what is popularly known as “Country Clothes”, in that part of the country.

Country cloths, which are abstracts of locally grown cottons, are primarily being produced into wearing for both male and females in Lofa County.

Majority of country clothes producers in Lofa, both men and women are seeking more customers and appealing for support to enable them trade their products outside of Liberia in anticipation for more incentives.

One of the producers in Kolahun, Korpo Lombeh, recently told RRNN that they are producing more country clothes, but buyers are not many.

“My brother, we are producing more country clothes here, but the buyers are not coming, so we want people outside of Lofa County to come buy our country clothes,” Lombeh told our correspondent, adding, “We can produce different, different designs. ”

Another female designer of country clothes in Voinjama City, Mamie Kpadeh, for her part, disclosed that she is capable of producing more country clothes to supply Liberia and even export to other countries around the world.

“I’m able to produce country clothes to supply Liberia and even export from Liberia to other countries in the world once I get the support and the buyers,” Mamie added.

Most females, especially single mothers involved with designing and producing country clothes in Lofa, are primarily doing so to sustain their famlies, according to our correspondent, who corroborates the country clothes designers’ assertion of less buyers for their goods.

Several Districts in Lofa County including Zorzor, Voinjama, Kolahun , Wanhassa, Lukamba, and Foya Statutory Districts are locations where country clothes production is on the increase.

Meanwhile, country clothes producers in Lofa are calling on philanthropists, non-governmental organizations, and private sector institutions to support them in marketing their products internationally.
