Mr. Gaye, a resident of Gayee Town, Electoral District #3, Grand Gedeh County, said he found the money and items on Sunday, September 14, 2025, while en route to his hometown. The discovery was made between Gbarzon Polar and Zalaken.

According to Gaye, he had been searching for the owner of the items since the day he discovered the money and items.

He further explained that since the money was discovered on last Sunday Sept 14, 2025 it was on Wednesday when a Ghanaian national (name withheld) reached out to him with another ID card after he got the information that the items belong to him.

The Ghanaian national claimed that he was traveling to River Cess, passing through Gbao, chiefdom in the Gbarzon Statutory District, when his items fell while travelling.

While in conversation with Jefferson Gaye, he explained that the case was reported to the district lawmaker, Hon. Jacob C. Debee for advice and the lawmaker in turn, had advised him to wait until he (Debee) arrived in the district on Friday, Sept 19, 2025 before the turning over ceremony can take place.

The representative had promised to appreciate Mr. Gaye during the turnover ceremony which has been planned to take place this Saturday Sept 20, 2025 in the district.

This incident marks a rare occurrence in Grand Gedeh County, where someone has found a large sum of money and chosen to return it to its rightful owner. Citizens of the area are commending Mr. Gaye for being integrity-driven and willing to do the right thing.
