Grand Kru County-Citizens of Philadelphia in Grand Kru County are expected to get a new school building. Groundbreaking for the construction of the six-classroom building took place on March 1, 2025. The school project is sponsored by Grand Kru County’s Senator, Numene T.H. Bartekwa, who said the initiative is in response to the increasing demand for more learning space in the community.

Speaking at the ground breaking site on Saturday, March 1, 2025, the Grand Kru County Senator told the gathering that the new facility, which will consist of six classrooms, is valued at US$75,000 and is expected to enhance learning conditions for students in the Philadelphia community.

Stakeholders, including Grand Kru County Superintendent, Antoinette Wowlee Nimely participated in groundbreaking ceremony. They expressed excitement about the new educational facility. “This is a dream come true for us; having a proper school building means that our children will have a better place to learn and grow. We are grateful to Senator Bartekwa for his support”, some of the speakers were heard expressing.

Senator Bartekwa expressed his commitment to advancing education through the Grand Kru County School System, and emphasized the importance of supporting the youthful population. “Education is the cornerstone of development, and it is our responsibility to provide the necessary facilities that foster learning and growth,” he stated. He added that the new building will not only accommodate more students, it will also create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.”

The Grand Kru County lawmaker said construction of the school facility is expected to finish within the next few months. He promised to ensure the project is implemented in line with best practice by frequently monitoring the progress and ensure timely completion.

In addition to the physical building, the senator highlighted plans for equipping the school with necessary educational resources. “It’s not just about building classrooms; we want to ensure that these classrooms are filled with the right tools for teaching,” he noted.

The groundbreaking ceremony not only marked a pivotal moment for education in Grand Kru County but also illustrates the cooperative spirit within the community as residents rallied together to support the senator’s efforts.
