Bong County Superintendent, Loleyah Hawa Norris says her office will not approve the construction of the much-publicized US$500k bridge proposed by Representative Musa Bility in Electoral District #3 without a blueprint.

The Bong County Superintendent made the statement when she appeared as guest on a local radio in the county on October 11, 2025.

On October 3, 2025, the Political Leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), Musa Bility and Representative.  J Marvin Cole broke ground for the constitution of US$500K bridge project over the Jor river in Bong County.

But Bong County Superintendent, Loleyah Hawa Norris, appearing on a local radio said her office will not approve the bridge construction without a clearly defined blueprint. “The bridge project announced by the CMC Political Leader has not come to my official attention, and if Hon. Musa Hassan Bility refuses to present the blueprint to my office for viewing, the project will not go on with in the County”, said Superintendent Norris.

The Vice Jury of Bong County narrated that the county authorities would like to see the blueprint for the proposed bridge to know if the project meets the require standard set by the Ministry of Public Works with regards to the constructing of bridge. She vowed not to allow the project until her office is fully recognized by receiving all the necessary information about the bridge project.

The controversy over the bridge project has sparked serious concerns in the County, with several citizens expressing their opinions.

John Mulbah, a resident of the Brooklyn Community in Gbarnga, where the bridge is to be constructed, expressed disappointment in the action of the County leadership. He said for too long, they as community dwellers in the region have suffered to cross the Jor River. He urged the leadership of the county not to politicize development intended for community people.

Mulbah emphasized that the construction of the bridge will bring relief to community dwellers and citizens of the county, especially students who usually commute the road to access their school campuses.

Mary Tokpah, another community member recounted the sufferings they experienced over the years to cross the Jor River, and urged the authorities of the county to leave politics out of the construction of the bridge that would bring relief to community members.

In response, Bong County Electoral District #3 Representative and Vice Chair for Operations of the opposition CMC, J Marvin Cole, said they are doing everything possible to proceed with the bridge project in order to ease the challenges citizens normally go through to crossing the Jor river.

“We are doing everything possible for the bridge to be constructed. We are law abiding people, we will go by what the Ministry of Public Works says when it comes to constructing bridge. Our plan is to erect bridge that will meet the standard of Public Works ” Rep. Cole told journalists via mobile phone.
