Voinjama City, Lofa County – Tuesday, October 14,2025-The National Road Fund (NRF) on  Saturday  October 11,2025 donated several road maintenance tools and equipment to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in support of the Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) Program, which focuses on routine road maintenance and roadside brushing activities across Lofa and yea Liberia.

The donation was done at the Lofa County Administrative Compound in Voinjama City where scores of local government officials were present including the County’s Superintendent J. Lavelah Massaquoi.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Orondo F. Armah, Assistant Minister for Technical Services, turned over the tools and equipment to Hon. J. Lavelah Massaquoi, Superintendent of Lofa County.

Equipment and tools donated include: 250 pieces of cutlasses; 250 pieces of rakes; 125 pieces of wheelbarrows and 250 pieces of safety jacket. Others are 250 pairs of rain boots; 150 pairs of hand gloves and 20 pieces of road sign/combs plus a brand new motorcycle.

Some of the tools and equipment donated by the NRF.

The donation aims to empower local community-based organizations to take ownership of the maintenance of feeder roads and ensure continuous road accessibility throughout the year.

Speaking during the presentation, Assistant Minister Armah emphasized the importance of community participation in maintaining rural infrastructure. He said the Ministry remains committed to working with local governments to ensure the sustainability of country’s road network.

Receiving the items, Superintendent Massaquoi expressed appreciation to the National Road Fund and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their continued support to local development efforts in Lofa County. He assured that the donated tools will be properly used by the CBOs to improve road conditions in the county.

For starters, the Community-Based Organizations Program is part of the government’s broader effort to decentralize road maintenance by engaging local groups in cleaning, brushing, and repairing feeder roads across the country.
